Senior Assembly Technician
About Fixyte Systems
Fixyte Systems is a contract manufacturer specializing in low-volume, high-mix assembly and integration of complex capital equipment. We serve OEMs in defense and aerospace, life sciences, industrial photonics, and robotics and automation — programs producing 10 to 150 units per year that demand technical depth, not just production throughput.
We're a small, founder-led team building something from the ground up. Everyone here owns their work. If you've spent years doing precision assembly at a place where your skills were underutilized, this is the opposite of that.
The Role
You'll be one of the first technical hires at Fixyte. That means you'll be hands-on with the actual builds — opto-mechanical assembly, electro-mechanical integration, precision sub-assembly — while also helping us establish the processes and documentation standards we'll build the shop floor around.
Programs here are technically demanding by design. We take on work that generalist contract manufacturers turn away: optical system integration, precision motion sub-assemblies, sensor and detector packages, defense instrumentation. You should find that interesting, not intimidating.
What You'll Do
- •Perform precision mechanical and electro-mechanical assembly on capital equipment programs from first article through production runs
- •Handle opto-mechanical integration including optical alignment, fiber coupling, and laser sub-system assembly
- •Execute and refine assembly procedures, work instructions, and build documentation to support quality and traceability requirements
- •Perform functional testing, inspection, and acceptance verification at defined build milestones
- •Work directly with program leads to flag issues, identify risks, and contribute to DFM improvements during NPI
- •Maintain accurate build records, deviation logs, and serialized traceability documentation
- •Support first article builds, customer acceptance reviews, and shipment preparation
What We're Looking For
- •5+ years of precision assembly experience in a technical manufacturing environment — capital equipment, instrumentation, photonics, defense, or similar
- •Hands-on experience with opto-mechanical or electro-mechanical integration at the sub-system or system level
- •Comfort reading and working from engineering drawings, schematics, and assembly procedures
- •Experience with inspection and measurement tools: calipers, micrometers, optical comparators, CMM operation a plus
- •Familiarity with quality documentation: build records, non-conformance reporting, first article inspection
- •Ability to work methodically on low-volume, high-attention builds — this is not a high-rate production environment
This is an early-stage hire. Compensation, equity participation, and title are flexible for the right person. If you've been doing this work for years inside a larger organization and want to help build a company around it, we want to talk.
How to Apply
