Fixyte Systems is a precision contract manufacturer based in Billerica, Massachusetts founded by engineers with deep backgrounds in capital equipment assembly. We specialize in opto-mechanical assembly, electro-mechanical integration, and complete system builds for defense and aerospace, medical and life sciences, industrial, and robotics OEMs. ITAR registered. ISO 9001 in progress. SAM.gov registered. 5–200 units per year under fixed-price SOW with one engineer accountable for every program.

The Founding Story

Behind every precision optical instrument, automated assembly system, and EO/IR sensor platform there's an engineering team that built something genuinely difficult — and a manufacturing partner that either understood it or didn't.

Before founding Fixyte Systems, our team spent years inside a capital equipment company assembling precision opto-mechanical and electro-mechanical systems — camera active alignment equipment, multi-axis optical module integrations, and complex electro-mechanical builds for demanding technical programs. We were the people doing the work. Not managing it from a distance. Not overseeing it through a project management layer. Assembling it — at the workstation, to sub-micron tolerances, under documentation disciplines that left no room for ambiguity..

We also watched what happened when the wrong CM got involved in programs like ours. Programs that should have taken weeks stretched into months. Engineers spent more time managing the vendor than advancing the program. Hardware came back dimensionally correct and optically wrong. The CM had followed the drawing without understanding what the drawing was protecting — and the OEM paid for that gap in schedule, in rework, and sometimes in field performance.

That gap — between a CM who follows the drawing and one who understands it — is not a small thing in precision capital equipment. It's the difference between a manufacturing partnership that accelerates your program and one that becomes the constraint on it. Fixyte exists because that gap has real consequences. We built the company we kept looking for.

Fixyte Systems was founded by engineers with extensive experience in precision manufacturing, automation systems, and complex capital equipment — from early concept through production and fielding.

Founded Fixyte Systems in 2024 after more than 15 years in precision capital equipment manufacturing — assembling and integrating complex opto-mechanical and electro-mechanical systems for demanding technical programs.

Before Fixyte, Andrew's work centered on precision assembly for capital equipment programs where sub-micron tolerances were the operating baseline — not the exceptional requirement. Camera active alignment systems, multi-axis optical module integrations, complete electro-mechanical instrument builds. Programs where the assembler needed to understand why the specification existed, not just that it did.

That background shapes every aspect of how Fixyte operates. The insistence on fixed-price SOW before work begins comes from having been the OEM who got surprised by scope creep billing. The discipline around first article validation comes from having seen what happens when a CM skips it and discovers the yield problem on unit 30. The commitment to build records generated during assembly — not compiled afterward — comes from having needed those records and found they didn't exist.

Andrew is directly involved in every Fixyte program. He reviews every design package, writes every SOW, and is the engineer accountable for every program from first article through final delivery. That's not a company description — it's an operating commitment.

What We Believe About Manufacturing Partnerships

We believe the right manufacturing partnership makes an OEM’s engineering team faster — not slower. Every hour your engineers spend managing a CM, answering questions the CM should already know the answer to, or reworking hardware that arrived wrong is an hour not spent on design, customer programs, and the work only your team can do. A CM who requires supervision is not a resource — it’s overhead.

We believe documentation is not a quality department function — it’s an assembly function. The build record generated at the workstation during assembly is fundamentally different from one compiled afterward from memory and summary notes. The first tells you what actually happened. The second tells you what someone remembers happened. For medical device programs, defense programs, and any program where assembly records are reviewed, the difference matters.

We believe in telling customers what we can’t do as clearly as what we can. A CM who claims to do everything is a CM who hasn’t figured out what they’re actually good at. We are specifically good at low‑volume, high‑complexity, domain‑specific capital equipment programs — where sub‑micron opto‑mechanical discipline, structured documentation, and an assembler who understands the physics behind the specification make a measurable difference. Programs outside that profile belong with a different type of CM — and we’ll tell you that in the first call.

We define the scope before we start the work.

Every program runs under a fixed‑price SOW with defined milestones before a single part is ordered. Not because it’s standard practice — but because it’s the only contract structure that aligns our incentives with yours. When the price is fixed, finishing the program correctly is always more economical than finding reasons to add scope. That alignment matters for every decision made during the program.

Domain Knowledge First

We review your design for what it’s protecting — not just what it says.

Before we quote any precision program, we review the design package for assembly sensitivity — where assembly choices affect system performance beyond dimensional tolerance. Thermal interfaces, bonding approaches, alignment requirements, mechanical joint specifications. What we find is discussed before the SOW is signed — not discovered mid‑build.

Direct Accountability

The engineer who scopes your program builds it.

One engineer owns every Fixyte program from first conversation through final delivery. That engineer reviewed your design, wrote your SOW, built your first article, and signed your build records. Direct access. Single point of accountability. Decisions made by the person with the context.

Honest Qualification

We tell you if we’re not the right fit.

In the first 30‑minute conversation, we qualify the program — and we qualify ourselves. If the scope, volume, or timeline doesn’t fit our model, we say so. We’d rather lose a program in the first call than take it and fail to deliver. Every CM says this. We say it because it’s the only model that works for a company built on repeat programs and referrals — and because it’s the right thing to do.
